Description:
It is the mission and vision of the Western Heritage Center to engage in activities that bring about a deeper understanding of our region and a broad appreciation for its people. We do this by telling the stories of the people of the Northern High Plains, centered on the Yellowstone River Valley.
We work with local, state and national partners to:
- Mount informative, interactive museum and traveling exhibits;
- Present different historical perspectives through special projects;
- Provide educational programs, resource materials and professional development training for teachers;
- Offer unique presentations to students and the public;
- Continue to expand our extensive archive collections of regional artifacts, fine art, textiles, photographs and memorobilia.
The Western Heritage Center is an Affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. We are accredited by the American Association of Museums and adhere to national exhibit and archival standards.
